How To Save Money The Easier Way

How To Save Money The Easier Way

Saving money doesn’t have to be so hard. In fact it should be pretty easy if you have a plan, and stick to it.

When you write things down, it’s easier. Here is how we do it.

Paying our bills on time is a priority, to avoid those late fees.  Some are just $5, some are more. If the late fee is $5, that’s a savings of $60 a year.  Considering all of our bills, you can save a lot of money that way.

Look over all your bills and try to set up a payment plan.  That way you can pay them around pay-day.  If possible, pay them ahead of time.  Some utility companies have a budget plan. That way it’s always the same amount and you know what to expect. And you can schedule that amount in your budget.

Anytime you donate to a charity, make sure you get a receipt. Then you can claim it on your taxes.

Writing up a budget is THE thing to do. When you write down how much you have coming in and all you have going out, you’ll see exactly how much you have left over. Seeing it all on paper really helps you to realize how much you can spend on toys and fun. Then you can plan on putting a certain amount in your savings account.

We put all our change in a piggy bank. We do that every night, and you’d be surprised how quickly it adds up.  When it’s full, we put it up in the top of our closet, under some things,  and start a new one.  And this year, I’m not going to touch it, no matter what!

A new thing I’m trying this year is, I’m putting all my dollar bills in a secret, hiding place.  I’m planning on using those for birthday presents, and anniversaries.  I’m hoping this will help out.  I really think it will.

Another new thing for this year is, we’re not going to eat out more than twice a month.  Sometimes we get pretty bad at that.  I mean it’s so easy to do that instead of cooking on some nights. So I’m going to plan all my dinners at the beginning of the week.

One way to make some extra money is on Swagbucks. You can read How To Use Swagbucks Here! Don’t miss this. It really helps! You’ll have some more savings!

  1. Also you could save money by simply turning off your electricity when no one is home during the day.

  2. Paying your bills with a check is also a good idea. That way you can see when a rate increase happens in one of your bills by simply balancing your checkbook. But I really like the writing your budget down, and always pay your bills first, so you don’t have to pay late fees. Really great advice!

  4. These are great ideas. I recently read an article about how someone managed to save up a tidy sum of money by saving all of their $5 bills. I bet you’d be able to cover a gift budget quite well by saving quarters.
